United Sates of America

I am Deborah L Radel MASEd, a certified US, Master level teaching/leadership professional.

I am so excited to Join the Royal International College as founding Principal for the opening year 2023!

I have 30 plus years working in education and coaching. My formative training in professional coaching equipped me with contextual experience in positive motivation and successful results for individuals and organizations.  I am a team organizer and collaborative leader. The last ten years of leadership training has provided the opportunity to build strong teaching cohorts.  Cohorts that work in unison to provide aligned programs that deliver the objectives using best practices and engaging practical experiential progressions to meet the needs of the curricula and the student.

Beginning in 2013, I provided 6 years of Administrative leadership in HCMC, The science facilities developed for VAIS in HCMC are reviewed as the best in the Southern part of Vietnam, and Cambridge International uses these facilities for annual training. I have worked directly with Cambridge of Singapore (zone 4) to provide these facilities.

I was then recruited to develop a new Cambridge International School for the HNG Group as Founding Principal 2018.

I moved to APU in 2019 as Upper School Leadership and curriculum development in Da Nang Vietnam, where I organized a full online American/AP curriculum to accommodate the need for online teaching due to the COVID situation and helped APU receive full accreditation with Cognia International, in fall of 2020. To date at APU, I have the program and supervision responsibilities MYP and AP level courses, American California CC Standards. Last year’s AP exams, though given at 3 am, returned 5’s in every program and above average scores for Vietnam.

I work well with Academic staffing, Financial and HR departments to facilitate program budgeting and development. I have provided high-level requirements for hiring, review and standards for teaching candidates.  I work in collaboration with all department leadership, parents and stakeholders to provide positive relationships for everyone.

As an Administrator, I have done the groundwork for Mission and Vision development and student standards for Global Citizenship and Cultural recognition.  Currently I am focused on social emotional development, as many students are now struggling with depression and isolation, as an aftermath of COVID times.

“I believe that learning and understanding are best developed in an experience-based program.  I work very closely with teachers and staff to provide a curriculum that engages sensory stimulation and creative thinking. Students and teachers thinking together, working to solve real world issues in novel ways. I encourage my teaching staff and students to collaborate and investigate objectives that have inspired them. I mentor teachers to help student’s think like teachers and teachers to engage and encourage positive life choices for students’. I mentor teachers who exemplify global citizenship, modeling empathy and ethics in and out of the classroom.  I encourage all my staff, techs and teachers, to participate in annual improvement goals as part of self-evaluation. Professional Development, that can be as simple as learning how to include more technology related presentations in lessons to developing and presenting new programs and projects for extracurricular service to the community and school.”

I love my job.

I have learned so much, experienced so many challenges and opportunities over the past ten years in Vietnam. Now I am excited to widen my experiences on a different continent and to embrace the challenge this new environment brings. I am looking forward to growing IB/experiential foundation programs in Malabo city!

I look forward to meeting all of our new Parents, Students and community Leaders who are ready to engage with hands-on projects. I look forward to working with students and teachers’ creation of foundations in critical thinking and deeper understanding of how we all learn, how we all play and participate in building our futures!

I thank the Royal International College for this amazing opportunity and look forward to new beginnings in 2023.

Australia

It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as the Executive Director at Royal International College.
I am Australian and began my international career in Dubai. I have led schools and education projects in more than 20 different countries including the USA, India, China, Vietnam, Thailand and several parts of the Middle East. I have led all major school curriculums but IB is without doubt the one that is my greatest passion.

What excited me most about Royal International College is the founders’ vision for creating the finest school in the region.

Together we will create a school that prepares children for a rapidly changing world. It is a new world that requires children to be globally-minded, critical thinkers. We need children to be academically smart but also to be able to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts.

The school will have outstanding teachers who put children at the centre of all they do. We will create a close community that welcomes genuine connections between school management, teachers, and families and I look forward to meeting all of our wonderful families to help ensure the pathways forward for our children are the very best they can be.

Your choice to educate your children at Royal International College is the best decision you could make for your children.
